This paper details the development and preliminary testing of GaitSkin, a wearable haptic interface designed for generating sensorimotor conflicts during locomotion. The system leverages real-time gait tracking and a wireless vibrotactile skin patch to produce sensorimotor conflicts between motor actions and tactile feedback with potential applications in neuroscience research particularly to induce hallucinations on Parkinson's disease patients. Initial testing with healthy subjects demonstrates the comfort, effectiveness, and potential of this wearable system to accurately identify footsteps while walking and deliver complex vibration patterns with high spatiotemporal resolution.
