End User Agreement

This document is an English translation of the original French version. In case of any discrepancy in interpretation, only the French version shall prevail.

These terms of use supplement the Infoscience Service Charter and specify the conditions under which you may use the platform and its content as an end user (authenticated or anonymous).

EPFL encourages broad dissemination and reuse of works deposited in Infoscience. These terms are therefore not intended to restrict use, but rather to provide the necessary guidelines for sharing content in a manner that respects the rights of authors and end users.

By using Infoscience, you accept these terms of use and agree to comply with them.

Access to content

Publications and other research outputs (“works”) referenced in Infoscience can be accessed through searches on the platform or directly via a link. Searches on the platform cover metadata and associated full text, including files under restricted access.

Bibliographic data (metadata) in Infoscience is accessible to all.

Works deposited in Infoscience are made available to end users under the conditions agreed with the authors and applicable legal requirements. By default, they are openly accessible (Open Access). An embargo may temporarily limit access to a work. Depositors may also restrict access to works to EPFL community members only.

Responsibility for content

Authors remain solely responsible for the content, authenticity, and academic quality of works deposited in Infoscience, regardless of who performs the deposit.

Use of information and works by end users

Downloading and using information from Infoscience does not constitute a transfer of intellectual property rights.

Metadata is licensed under Creative Commons CC0 1.0 and may be used, modified, and redistributed without prior consent.

As an end user, you may use works made available, provided you respect copyright and the license under which they were shared. This includes citing the author(s), bibliographic details (title, publisher, year of publication, permanent link: Handle—not URL), and applying the conditions of any copyleft license (e.g., Creative Commons). Any other use beyond personal and non-commercial purposes requires authorization from the rights holders.

Works restricted to the EPFL community may not be used, downloaded, or distributed outside this scope without the express permission of the authors.

You are responsible for assessing copyright and any legal issues that may affect your use of Infoscience content and for assuming personal responsibility for such use.

In case of violation of these terms or applicable laws, EPFL reserves the right to restrict or revoke access to Infoscience for the offending user.

Other Applicable Conditions

Infoscience provides links to third-party websites and resources (e.g., citations, metrics) for your convenience. As an end user, you understand and agree that Infoscience has no control over these sites or resources and does not endorse or guarantee their content. EPFL cannot be held liable for the content or functionality provided by third parties.

Finally, EPFL cannot be held liable for any loss or damage resulting from technical issues or failure to comply with legal or other obligations.
