A combined pH-pressure sensor, mounted in an 8F double-lumen catheter, is described for the investigation of the oesophageal function. The advantages of the sensor design with back-side contacts are outlined. Preliminary in vivo experiments are presented, which show satisfactory results for simultaneous pH and pressure measurements.
