6th International Workshop on Polymer Reaction Engineering

The inverse-emulsion polymn. of acrylamide and its copolymn. with quaternized acrylate or methacrylate was studied in the presence of various surfactants. The obtained latexes are transparent and have particle diams. as low as 100 nm and enhanced long-term stability, similar to inverse microemulsions despite of the monomer/emulsifier ratio characteristic for macroemulsions. The prodn. of tailor-made copolymeric flocculants was studied in a semi-batch reactor and the dewatering characteristics of acrylamide-trimethylammonioethyl acrylate copolymers was tested.
