Note

[957] English title: Psamathe - Alternative sand trap flushing system, Complete sediment removal particularly in Dufour type sand traps can only be realized with a drawdown flushing resulting in significant water loss. This water is designated for energy production, so that its loss affects the plant profitability. The proposed alternative flushing system aims improving the sand trap flushing efficiency by technical means. It intends to reduce the discharge required for sediment flushing, estimated on the base of a numerical simulation with two software packages. First, an existing Dufour flushing system is studied, then the alternative system is implemented, using the same sand trap as in a previously driven case study. The improved flushing system is proven to enable relevant flow velocities all along the flushing conduit, in contrast to the existing system which operates efficiently only along the last third of the flushing channel.
