Fringe denoising algorithms: A review
December 1, 2020
Fringe analysis has been at the forefront of research due to its ubiquity in many optical measurement techniques such as electronic speckle interferometry, shearography, and digital holographic interferometry. The first step of most of the fringe analysis procedures is the denoising of fringe images. Therefore, the performance of denoising algorithms is critical in deciding the accuracy of phase and in turn associated measurement of physical parameters. This paper discusses state-of-art fringe denoising algorithms and recent developments. Simulation and experimental examples of selected denoising algorithms are provided for the purpose of demonstration.
