The purpose of this project was to bring to a wider public an almost forgotten technique for color photography, invented by Gabriel Lippmann in 1892 and rewarded with a Nobel prize in 1908. The project was born out of a longstanding cooperation between EPFL and the Elysée photography museum in Lausanne, which holds the largest collection of original Lippmann plates, and it was crowned by an extremely successful Lippmann photography exhibition at Plateforme10 in March 2023.
