Development of Cyclopentadienylcobalt(III) Catalyzed Asymmetric C-H Functionalizations
Transition metal catalyzed C-H activation plays a major role in modern organic chemistry, affording mild, selective and atom-efficient protocols. Most of current developments in the field rely on the use of several precious metals. As a consequence, an intense research is going on in order to develop methodologies that might employ the more abundant 3d metals instead. Lately, cobalt catalysis has attracted much attention and displayed reactivities analogous to those of rhodium. Interestingly, there are very limited number of reports on asymmetric cobalt(III) catalyzed C-H functionalization. Therefore, the aim of our research is do develop efficient enantioselective cobalt(III)-catalyzed C-H functionalization protocols.
