Decorative Arts in the Age of Global Warming
Hoy en dĂa existe un conflicto entre el valor patrimonial y turĂstico de la arquitectura y su valor ecolĂ³gico y climĂ¡tico. De hecho, a finales del siglo XX en Europa se habĂa puesto en valor el aspecto visual, cultural y estĂ©tico de los edificios, en el marco de un desarrollo econĂ³mico postindustrial ligado principalmente al turismo. Pero cuando en el siglo XXI llegaron los imperativos del aislamiento tĂ©rmico, para reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, surgiĂ³ un conflicto entre la imagen histĂ³rica que debĂa dar la fachada hacia el espacio pĂºblico y la necesidad de taparla desde el exterior con lana de roca como aislamiento tĂ©rmico. Es aquĂ donde la decoraciĂ³n de interiores adquiere todo su significado, el de las alfombras y tapices de antaño, de candelabros y espejos, de dorados y cortinas, como estrategias ancestrales para mejorar las condiciones tĂ©rmicas de los interiores premodernos y cuya ambiciĂ³n debemos revalorizar y renovar los medios en la era del calentamiento global. AsĂ, trabajando sobre fenĂ³menos climĂ¡ticos reales, los estudiantes de Arquitectura de Interiores del HEAD en Ginebra, bajo la direcciĂ³n de Philippe Rahm y Phi Nguyen, buscaron dar respuesta a los imperativos ecolĂ³gicos actuales, para llevar la antigua Torre del Instituto Suizo de Roma a estĂ¡ndares energĂ©ticos, inventando un nuevo estilo decorativo caracterĂstico del siglo XXI.
