Abstract

In the field of haptic feedback, LAI is working on a way of localizing impact vibrations through machine learning algorithms. In this semester project, the goal is to extend a one-dimensional system into a two-dimensional system with a demonstrator surface that can show the error of the prediction in real time. In this project, we designed a system with a touchscreen and acquired a dataset with an automated Linear Impact Generator (LIG). The results with the dataset are good, but bad when we use it on the system. This is mostly due to the lack of resemblance between the LIG and the human touch. We then provided a way of constructing another dataset through usage of the demonstrator surface, hoping that it will lead to better results in the future.
