De la ville à la plaine par les canaux, un quartier périurbain d'interconnexion (Yverdon-les-Bains, VD)
Le projet s'intéresse à la zone périurbaine d'Yverdon-les-Bains située à la limite entre la ville et la grande plaine agricole de l'Orbe: divisée du Nord au Sud par le viaduc autoroutier et rythmée d'Est en Ouest par une série de canaux. Cette zone, non urbanisée, offre l'opportunité d'étendre le tissu bâti en reliant la typologie des bâtiments avec leur environnement. L'objectif est triple: dialoguer avec le paysage pour le faire pénétrer dans l'espace urbain, organiser des espaces afin de favoriser l'expansion de la nature par des canaux et des bassins de rétention et développer une promenade le long de la rivière principale de la ville, la Thièle. L'urbanisation de cette zone peut ainsi améliorer et augmenter le dialogue entre la ville et l'eau, entravé à Yverdon par une image négative héritée du passé: une zone marécageuse, génératrice de brouillard et régulièrement inondée, peut ainsi laisser place à une zone d'interconnexion dynamique entre ville et campagne. La proposition articule des quartiers organisés en fonction des canaux, utilisés et valorisés pour la gestion des crues, l'irrigation des cultures et le développement d'un nouvel axe de mobilité douce. Les interrelations entre les constructions et leur environnement ainsi que la densité de l'habitat, en fonction de la distance au tissu bâti actuel de la ville, sont gérées avec l'aide d'algorithmes développés sur Grasshopper, permettant la composition paramétrique de l'ensemble.
