Abstract

The emerging concept of global biobased economy has seen unprecedented growth and development, and biomass-based biorefineries have attained center stage in the production of fuels and chemicals. Life-Cycle Assessment of Biorefineries explores the fundamental aspects and principles of life-cycle assessment (LCA) of biomass-based biorefineries, in order to help readers inderstand and develop the techno-economic and environmental feasibilities of such biorefineries. The book deals with feedstocks for biorefineries, LCA and land use, models and their impact on biofuel policies, and inegrated biorefineries. It also provides and discusses specific examples of integrated biorefineries.
