High Incident Photon-to-Current Conversion Efficiency of p-Type Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Based on NiO and Organic Chromophores
High incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency of p-type dye-sensitized solar cells are based on transparent NiO films and org. chromophores [4-(bis-[4-[5-(2,2-dicyanovinyl)thiophene-2-yl]phenyl)amino]benzoic acid] and [4-(bis[4'-(2,2-dicyanovinyl)biphenyl-4-yl]amino)benzoic acid] (I). A p-type dye-sensitized solar cell based on I sensitizer and an acetonitrile-based electrolyte yielded an IPCE of 44% (transparent NiO film thickness 1-1.4 μm). Under the same conditions, the ICPE of the cell contg. the thiphenyl analog of I was 35%.
