Self-sensing of linear short-stroke actuators for multi-finger haptic interfaces using induced high frequency oscillations
2012
Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2012)
With the aim of providing a new touch sensation to the user, the design of innovative multi-finger haptic devices passes through the research for efficient and low-cost methods for position sensing. This paper thus addresses a novel self-sensing method for electromagnetic actuators taking advantage of high frequency oscillations induced at the transistor shutting and whose attenuation directly depends on the coil inductance that varies with the position.(
