Une traversée urbaine lacustre (Genève)
Le choix s'est porté sur le bassin genevois actuellement en mutation à travers un grand projet d'agglomération transfrontalière. Genève, qui se trouve malgré tout au centre des débats, planifie un important renouvellement urbain déjà initié par de nombreux chantiers. La ville grandit, mais en évitant systématiquement la direction du lac. L'absence d'urbanisation des rives, laissées à une minorité ou à la solitude d'un quai, est révélateur du «syndrome de la rade». Cette dernière, en dehors de son rôle patrimonial, témoigne de l'indécision de la ville quant à son rapport à l'eau, ne sachant réellement s'il s'agit d'une ouverture paysagère ou d'un simple fleuve à traverser. Ces hésitations se révèlent plus encore à travers le dossier sans fin de la traversée de la rade. Cette question, encore ouverte à l'heure actuelle, semble emmurée dans des considérations paysagères opposant clairement une ville finie, entourée de campagne. Mais que se passe-t-il lorsque les villes se rejoignent? Parallèlement, l'époque contemporaine voit resurgir de nombreux projets de ponts habités. Qu'ils restent à l'état de projets ou qu'ils soient en attente d'une autorisation, ils témoignent d'un regain d'intérêt face à une pratique très largement répandue du XIIe au XVIIe siècle. Sur fond de l'éternelle crise du logement, le projet se définit comme une traversée urbaine et lacustre. Il propose ainsi une réflexion sur les possibilités d'usages d'une infrastructure des mobilités à travers une nature qui est autant un support de traversée qu'un paysage à part entière.
