Rate-dependence of 2:1 atrial capture as a protective mechanism against atrial tachycardia-induced atrial fibrillation

We recently observed periods of intermittent 2:1 atrial capture in the human left atrium (LA), preceded by atrial repolarization alternans during pacing-induced atrial tachycardia (PIAT). The mechanism involved in resumption of 1:1 atrial capture remains undetermined.
