A new methodology for process energy integration and heat exchanger network synthesis, combining heuristic rules and mathematical optimization techniques, is presented. The tool based on it, is an assistance program for the non-expert user, who can use it to complete different tasks, such as flexible network synthesis, retrofit or revamping studies, according to several optimization criteria.
