Swiss DSpace User Group meeting

This presentation outlines the transformation of EPFL’s institutional repository, Infoscience, through its migration to DSpace-CRIS, an open-source solution. The migration, in partnership with 4science, has improved compliance with FAIR principles and open access mandates, while integrating persistent identifiers like DOIs, ORCID, and RoR. The new entity-relationship model better represents EPFL’s research ecosystem—labs, units, researchers, and outputs. Enhanced metadata alignment with standards such as DC, Datacite, and Schema.org, along with integration of external sources like Web of Science, Scopus or Crossref, streamline researcher workflows. This case study highlights both the challenges and benefits of modernizing a repository to support evolving open science practices.
