Comparing re-balancing and diusion behavior between docked and dock-less bike-sharing systems
Arisen with the complexity of the systems. Two distinct BSS types can be identifed: Docked and Dock-less. This study focuses on comparing re-balancing and diffusion behavior between Divvy's docked BSS in Chicago and Mobike's dock-less BSS in Chengdu, China. In this report we nd that (1) short-distance re-balancing movements in Chengdu are very frequent, suggesting a significant amount of \local" re-balancing; (2) Divvy's re-balancing efforts produce twice as many trips as Mobike's in Chengdu; (3) re-balancing actions proved slightly less productive in areas where these are more frequent; (4) re-balancing movements showed significantly lower productivity for very short and very long distances; (5) dock-less system in Chengdu shows a significantly lower diffusion compared to that of Chicago, likely caused by \local" re-balancing behavior.
