The INDMOB research project examines, through a rigorous methodological approach based on the analysis of collected data and the examination of mobility trends (among 24,577 surveyed individuals), the evolution of travel habits among the Ticino population and Italian cross-border workers employed in the Canton of Ticino between 2019 and 2023. Specifically, the analysis focused on the effects on the population's daily travel choices following the inauguration of the Ceneri Base Tunnel (GBT) and the implementation of the public transport service (TP 2021). The project aims to provide the Ticino Department of Territory (DT), the study's sponsor, with accurate results on current (autumn 2023) and past (autumn 2019) mobility trends and the resulting changes in population habits, in order to guide future policies and interventions in the field of sustainable mobility. The analysis considered all travel modes, from active mobility to public transport by road and rail, and even private vehicles.
