Air-water two-phase flow approach to simulate nearshore wave motion
2010
The two-dimensional two-phase Navier-Stokes equations, volume of fluid technique and a two-equation turbulence closure model were used to predict wave breaking and runup, and compared with experimental data. Comparison of the results with a corresponding single-phase flow model revealed that the inclusion of both air and water phases leads to an improvement in simulation of hydrodynamic characteristics especially in the vicinity of the breaking point.
