These are used only with variable-voltage variable-frequency static power converters or voltage-source inverters to obtain good energy conversion efficiencies and controlled thrust or positioning1. Tubular induction actuators with solid steel rotor and sleeve rotor with solid steel core have found application in areas where short linear movement is required, for example in opening and closing valves2.
