Abstract

In the framework of the INTERREG IIIb NWE project « Strategies and Actions for Flood Risk Management » (SAFER), a detailed streambank erosion hazard model applicable to long river reaches has been developed. Streambank erosion has caused significant damages to river works along the River Enrick in Scotland and has caused land loss. The CCHE1D model (http://www.ncche.olemiss.edu/), adapted for streambank erosion modeling (thesis Beck, 2006), is tested for this dynamic river case. With a geomorphologic appraisal and qualitative erosion observations, a CCHE1D model of the Enrick River is setup and calibrated. Shear stress and streambank erosion maps are produced for design flood events.
