Abstract

Static mixers as internals in relation to the expansion and dispersion characteristics of a liq. fluidized bed are studied exptl. The column diam. is 39-300 mm. Fluidized-bed reactors equipped with internals exhibit a high hydrodynamic stability accompanied by an increase in the operating range in terms of flow rate by a factor of 4-5, compared with the classical fluidized bed. The axial dispersion of the liq. depends on the Archimedes no. (Ar), the hydraulic diam. of the static mixer, and expansion. The dispersion increases with decreasing Ar and increasing hydraulic diam. of the bed. In general, dispersion is reduced with bed expansion. [on SciFinder (R)]
