Abstract

Methanolic HCHO, essentially H2O-free, is prepd. by dehydrogenation of MeOH over a catalyst contg. >=1 Na compd. at 300-800 Deg. Thus, a mixt. contg. 13% MeOH and 87% N was passed at 700 Deg and 0.154 mol/h over a catalyst prepd. by sintering Na2B4O7 and In(NO3)3 (5.7 parts Na:1 part In) to give 56.5% HCHO. [on SciFinder (R)]
