Abstract

Diols, meso- and dl-PrCH(OH)CH(OH)Pr, cis- and trans-1,2-cyclohexanediol, 9,10,-cis-dihydroxy-cis,trans-1,5-cyclododecadiene, trans-7,8-dihydroxybicyclo[4.2.0]octane, and I, are epimerized by heating their dilithium diolates in (MeOCH2CH2)2O in 55-78% yields. [on SciFinder (R)]
