Abstract

Electrochem. promotion of dispersed RuO2 catalyst on yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) monolith was studied in a monolithic catalytic reactor fabricated from YSZ solid electrolyte. This new design showed an important increase in ethylene conversion to CO2 by potential application between two inert gold electrodes. The effects of the cell potential, the ethylene partial pressure, the total gas flux, and the temp. were studied. In a typical example, an increase of the ethylene conversion from 36 to 50.5% (pC2H4 = 0.2 kPa) was obsd. by applying a cell potential of 30 V at 360 Deg. [on SciFinder (R)]
