Abstract

A review of sensitization of TiO2 by supramols. contg. zinc porphyrins and ruthenium-polypyridyl complexes in solar cells. Conversion of sunlight to elec. power is being examd. through the use of new-generation photovoltaic cells. For such devices, anchored ruthenium polypyridyl complexes with suitable substituents on meso-porous TiO2 have been tested and are a cost-effective alternative to conventional solid-state devices. Photoinduced charge-carrier generation at the heterojunction has become very efficient after the incorporation of metalloporphyrins.
