Abstract

The public program in the context of Bianca Baldi’s solo exhibition deals with perspectives on the colonial image archive and asks for the potential of a critical redesign. On November 5 and 6, the invited artists and scholars will introduce alternative narratives and research strategies in the form of various, experimental talk formats, screenings and a performance. They will show how archives as infrastructures of preservation perpetuate hegemonic ways of thinking and present alternative archiving methods. What critical practices are needed to use archives as a resource for reflecting on current political issues and future knowledge production? How can silenced voices from the Global South be heard and made fruitful? And what does this mean for the specific Swiss context?
