Abstract

An original electrical AC loss experimental set-up is presented. For loss comparison purpose, Ic and exponent n are measured with a DC magnetic field between 2 and 400 mT applied perpendicularly to the axis of the sample using a specially designed electromagnet. A computer controlled stepper motor allows a the field angle to vary from parallel to perpendicular with respect to the tape surface. Using a triangular input current, voltage is measured and averaged, and then fitted to a power law in the form V0*(I/Ic)^n. The measurements are repeated to give the dependencies of Ic and n on the magnetic field amplitude and angle.
