Résumé
Smart Materials such as Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) play a major role in creating Smart Actuators that are compact and high performing. Traditional SMA bias-spring actuators are only capable of a single linear output. Using topology optimization, compliant SMA bias-spring mechanisms that can create multi-output displacements from a single bias-spring are designed to improve upon the traditional actuators. These new smart actuators are then simulated using Finite Element Modelling to validate the presence of the Shape Memory Effect.
