Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and speedy method for decoupling of homonuclear couplings.SOLUTION: This invention concerns a method for high resolution NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) measurements comprising the application of excitation pulses and the acquisition of data points. In a method for acquiring two consecutive data points separated by a dwell time Δt, one or more tickling RF (radio frequency) pulses of duration τare applied within each dwell time Δt and the average RF field amplitude of each of the tickling RF pulses approximately fulfills the condition<ω>=ωτ/Δt=πJ, where J is a scalar J-coupling constant, γ in ω=γBis a gyromagnetic ratio, and Bis the strength of a magnetic component of each tickling RF pulse. This method is effective in decoupling homonuclear couplings.
