Abstract

Herein, we report the synthesis, structure, and magnetic properties of new 3d-4f solids Na2LnMnO(AsO4)2 (Ln = Sm3+, Gd3+, Dy3+) (the 2112 series) and their structural comparison with the Na3LnMn3O3(As04)3 (Ln = La3+, Sm3+, Gd3+) series (the 3133 series). The gadolinium compd. of the 2112 series reveals intriguing magnetic anomalies that arise from competing multiple magnetic dynamics and, for the first time, stepped magnetization below the Curie temp. T ≈ 2O K.
