Introduction: Rapid pacing of atrial fibrillation (AF) can induce local capture of the atrial tissue and preliminary studies showed that the septum area was the only location allowing capture of both atria from a single site. The present model-based study investigated the impact of heterogeneities in atrial substrate on the ability to capture AF during rapid pacing from the septum.
