Nonuniversal velocity fluctuations of sedimenting particles

Abstract
An overview is given on the experimental evidence suggesting that the magnitude of the initial fluctuations increases with cell size. For sufficiently thick cells, the magnitude is also shown to decrease over the entire time of the experiment, so that a steady state does not exist.
