Slow fluorescence and fast intersystem crossing - The xanthone anomaly
2007
Abstract
Intersystem crossing of xanthone in protic solvents proceeds within ∼ 1 ps, whereas its fluorescence decays within 60–600 ps. This is due to a delayed fluorescence from a 3 nπ* state energetically close to the 1 ππ* state.
