Low Power Fully Parallel Analog Image Processor for Medical Diagnostics Implemented in CMOS Technology

Modern medical, telecommunication, and multimedia applications become recently one of the main research fields for very large scale of integration (VLSI) application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) system designers. List of such applications is endless. In medicine the demand is for improving quality of life and reducing costs of medical care. Fast image processing systems are used in various medical applications. For example, in medical diagnostics fast data processing is of paramount feature due to large data stream that must be processed very fast to provide the useful information. The other example can be innovative medical tools that can be used in gastroscopy, such as so called camera capsules that can be swallowed. Such tool using the ultra low power image processing system is able to work with the very low power dissipation, transmitting data through an RF transceiver to a central computer monitored by a nurse.
