Abstract

The integration of PV modules into platform canopies has several advantages: - Very large areas are available and just waiting to be used - These areas are nationally owned - There is maintenance personnel on-site - The areas are exposed to the view of numerous railway customers and have thus a promotional effect. But every rose has its thorn and in this particular case, the following problems have to be considered: - Local pollution - Electromagnetic perturbation - Shading from cables and supports. The present paper reports on: - A study of the pratical problems of integrating photovoltaic modules into platform canopies - A detailed study of Morges railway station with a view to installing an efficient electric power station.
