In this work we demonstrate a new process for precisely encapsulating nanoliters of aqueous solution in a microcapsule. Microcapsules were fabricated by twophoton polymerization and subsequently filled and sealed by inkjet printing. Our new approach overcomes the current limitations of existing methods such as liquid waste and evaporation, trapped bubbles, and adverse effects on cargo. Due to the digital printing approach, it provides great flexibility in terms of materials and design. Our new approach can be applied to various biomedical applications, such as drug delivery systems or lab-on-chip.
