A novel palladium-catalyzed domino spirocyclization for the formation of spiropyrrolidine-3,3'-oxindoles is reported. Both Heck and aminopalladation are viable pathways and the route that occurs depends on the ligand used and 2-(2-MeC6H4)C6H4P(CMe3)2 is required for spirocyclization. [on SciFinder (R)]
