Crab-waist collisions. From lepton to hadron colliders

Abelleira, José Luis
2013
John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science Lecture Series

Crab waist is a collision scheme to increase the luminosity which had been developed for lepton storage-ring colliders, in particular SuperB, and which has been successfully applied at DAFNE. An implementation in hadron colliders like the LHC, with naturally round beams and equal charge per beam, is more challenging. In this talk I will present a new interaction-region for the HL-LHC which combines a local chromatic correction, large Piwinski angle, flat beams and crab waists.
