“Atlas of Reused Concrete” (ARC), an online platform to gather, visualise, and explore a growing international case-study database
Carefully extracting concrete elements from soon-to-be-demolished structures and reusing them as structural components is a promising yet underutilised strategy for reducing the embodied carbon footprint of new construction and improving the management of disused concrete. Overcoming knowledge fragmentation and improving data accessibility are essential to advancing research and practice in this emerging field of circular design. This paper introduces ARC, the ‘Atlas of Reused Concrete,’ an online platform that documents built projects structurally reusing concrete components. By centralising data in a structured format and offering interactive visualisation, filtering options, and a community-driven submission function, ARC facilitates knowledge and data exchange among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.
