The analysis of an electrical distribution system will include the load-flow, the calculation of short-circuit currents, a study of its stability, an evaluation of its reliability and co-ordination of the system insulation. In Europe, Electricite de France has taken a pioneering part in developing methods of calculation. Future advances appear to be in the directions of the identification of optimum couplings, the adjustment of protective systems and the operation of central stations
