Women, Higher Education and Career Choice; Women's experiences of higher education and career choice in Ireland and Uganda

Namara, Naboth
•
Tormey, Roland
2011

Central to the debates in this book is the issue of development. Over the years, development practitioners have assumed that national development automatically translates into more freedom for women, and therefore leads to gender equality. The other assumption has been that higher educational attainment emancipates women from patriachal oppressions.Looking at the experiences of women in higher education in both Ireland and Uganda, this book gives a picture of the impact of national development and higher educational attainment on women's lives.
