A new EU initiative, Hydropower-Europe, is reported here. This work, soon to be launched, will provide a framework for the hydropower sector in Europe to define a research and innovation agenda, and technology roadmap. The initiative is expected to help position European hydropower within the international market, and support development of the sector in the coming decades.
