Problèmes urbains, technologies et sociétés, des pistes à suivre

Bolay, Jean-Claude
2010
conference at the Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifique (CSRS)

The city plays a major role in the dissemination of these technologies. Technological innovation is both the cause and effect of urban development, playing a decisive role in the structuring of cities but also representing a means of fulfilling emerging needs. Commonly defined as the transfer of scientific discoveries from one organisation to another for development and marketing purposes, the transfer of urban technologies to developing countries and the joint creation of adapted technologies have to respond to the major problems confronting the city’s key players: public authorities, economic stakeholders and users. There are five particularly suitable areas for this transfer of technologies in the urban environment: water, energy, transport, sanitation and habitat.
