Applications of selective pulse expts. in high-resoln. solid state NMR are explored. Selective expts. are useful for setting initial conditions for exchange-type expts. and for the simplficiation of spectra by selective excitation or satn. A careful anal. of sideband-selective excitations in magic angle spinning expts. shows that excitation of an entire sideband family via a single sideband is not possible. However, satn. of a complete family via selective excitation can be used to simplify overlapping spectra. [on SciFinder (R)]
