Investigating the Convection Heat Transfer on SMA Actuators by Using a Highly Conducting Elastomer Layers

Lacroix, Grégoire
June 10, 2022

This semester project consists of fabricating and studying the heat transfer on a shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator composed of a nitinol sheet sandwiched by two elastomers. The first part of this report concerned different cooling method for nitinol. The second part is about the manufacturing the characterization of the transient response of the SMA actuator and a simulation of this actuator. And finally, a part on an interesting phenomenon of the nitinol the resistivity variation changing in function of the temperature of the nitinol.
