A method for imaging a sample (30) with an imaging device (20) is proposed, wherein imaging parameters of the imaging device (20) are determined by by a Bayesian optimization system (10), wherein the method comprises the following steps: imaging the sample (30) with the imaging device (20) with a first set of imaging parameters; evaluating the quality of the image; changing at least one of the imaging parameters of the imaging device (20) for imaging the sample (30) based on the evaluated quality of the image, wherein the change of the at least one imaging parameter is determined by the Bayesian optimization system (10); and reimaging the sample (30) with the imaging device (20) with the changed imaging parameters.
